Review and Publication Process
A full double-blind refereeing process is used, comprising the following steps:
The paper is sent to two reviewers for evaluation. Their recommendations determine whether the paper will be accepted, accepted with minor revisions, requires resubmission with significant changes, or rejected.
If revisions are required, the same reviewers will assess the revised manuscript to ensure quality.
Once accepted, the author(s) will be notified to pay the publication fee.
An acceptance letter will be issued after the payment has been made.
The author/corresponding author will be informed about the publication date
The review process typically takes a maximum of two weeks.
Copyright
Copyrights for articles published in JSS are retained by the authors, with first publication rights granted to the journal. The journal/publisher is not responsible for subsequent uses of the work. It is the authors responsibility to take legal action in case of copyright infringement.
Publication Fee
JSS follows a gold open-access publication model, ensuring that all published papers are freely available to the public.
Authors from Kenya are required to pay Ksh. 5,000.
Authors from the rest of the world are required to pay US $50.
The publication fee is charged only after a paper has been accepted for publication.
Authors retain full copyright to their work.
JSS adheres to industry standards in open-access publishing and maintains a no-waiver policy, ensuring that publication fees are uniformly applied to all authors without exception.
As an Open Access journal, the Journal of Science and Security (JSS, KENYA) provides free access to all its content without any charges to readers. The journal operates without receiving any grants or aid. To cover operational expenses such as proofreading and layout design, JSS levies a nominal article processing fee. This fee, which remains consistent regardless of the number of authors or pages, is only required to be paid after an article has been accepted for publication.
